Advice Column
You are going to write an advice column. Advice columns are usually seen in magazines or newspapers. People write into the author of an advice column about a certain subject they want advice on, then the author writes back to that person, answering his or her questions. Below are examples of advice columns.
1. You are going to write the advice column in a friendly letter format. Don't forget to add VOICE! The letter to the editor (you are the editor) should include the following elements:
Greeting (Dear Elena,)
Body- Refer to the resources page for links to information on city basketball teams, weather, and restaurants.
2. The response letter to the person looking for advice should include the following elements:
Greeting (Dear ____________,)
Body- Give advice, answer the person's questions
Closing (Sincerely, Elena)
3. You should also include two maps, one with the location from where the person will be traveling from and one with the location of your city.
Greeting (Dear Elena,)
Body- Refer to the resources page for links to information on city basketball teams, weather, and restaurants.
- Introduce yourself by telling the editor where you currently live
- Tell the editor where you will be traveling to and why
- Ask the editor at least three questions about the city, questions can be about: weather, basketball teams, restaurants to visit, what to pack
2. The response letter to the person looking for advice should include the following elements:
Greeting (Dear ____________,)
Body- Give advice, answer the person's questions
Closing (Sincerely, Elena)
3. You should also include two maps, one with the location from where the person will be traveling from and one with the location of your city.
